Types of Claw Foot Bathtubs
It may come as a surprise that within the claw foot bathtub category there are other ways to break down the different types of bathtubs. The classic style features a flat, even rim around the entire tub. These are the most commonly found claw foot bathtubs. The plumbing of this type of tub is usually at one end of the tub.
Double ended claw foot tubs are similar to classic tubs except that both ends are rounded. The rim is still flat all the way around, but instead of having one straight end and one rounded end as in the classic tubs, the double ended claw foot tub is rounded at both ends.
Slipper tubs are another type of claw foot bathtub that can be found in the market. These bathtubs feature one end that is slightly taller than the other. This taller end slopes down to the lower end. The purpose of this style is to create a more comfortable position for relaxing and lounging in the tub.
Double slipper claw foot tubs are similar to slipper tubs aside from the fact that both ends are raised and sloped. This type of tub usually has the plumbing situation at the middle of the back of the tub. The slopes on both ends provide the opportunity to relax and soak from either end of the tub.
Claw foot bathtubs can be found in a variety of styles and colors. They are readily available in cast iron, for a long lasting, durable bathtub. One can even find claw foot bathtubs made from acrylic for a less expensive alternative to cast iron. Although claw foot bathtubs are a more traditional and classic style of bathroom fixture, they can easily be fit into any modern style bathroom.
